Question Contacting local councillors

I work at bassac, a membership body for community organisations. I've just joined this forum and was wondering if anyone could provide tips on how I can contact local councillors and council staff?

We're organising a big conference about local democracy in Manchester at the beginning of March. We'll basically be exploring how community organisations and councils can work better together.

Any ideas on how to reach local councils would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Alice

Welcome along to TSF Alice, if you have two seconds please introduce yourself here.

On to your query...If you've got a personal contact at the local authority then that's usually the best place to start but there's certainly no harm in calling/emailing councillors out of the blue. Your council's website should have a full list of local councillors similar to this.

Have you listed the conference in our events and training forum?

Thanks for the messsage.

We've done quite a lot of direct mailings to councillors in the North West but I am looking for online forums or other places where councillors gather (!). Have just discovered the New Local Government Network http://www.nlgn.org.uk/public/ so am hoping they may help me out!

I will add it to this site too - good idea.
