Default Justgiving / Twitter / Facebook

Hi All,

Does anyone know of any clever ways to integrate all of a charity's Justgiving fundraising pages into Facebook and Twitter? Other than just posting individual links?

Thanks,

Abigail

Hi Abigail,

Jonathan from JustGiving here.

That's a very good question you've asked. We've got plenty of ways for individuals to promote their pages on social media (Facebook app, Facebook Connect and "sharethis" to Twitter and loads of other social sites) but there's not an automatic way for a charity to promote all of the pages (yet).

You could post a link to all your fundraisers' pages and allow people to search (like the link here for a demo charity) but it depends what you're trying to achieve. Is it to get more people visiting those pages to make donations, or is it to show off your star fundraisers? Or is it something else entirely?

I would love to hear what you're trying to do, either on here, or you could email me at jonathan [at] justgiving.com.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hi Jonathan

Essentially, I'm looking for a way to promote all the people who have Justgiving pages for our charity. As a team, we're overhauling the way we manage Justgiving and promote it to our supporters and I wanted to offer a link to our Facebook fan page and Twitter feed as part of the service. I was thinking like some kind of montage of photos/links but I guess in the meantime, I could just post up on FB/Twitter every time a new JG page is registered for us.

It would be good to hear about future plans for integrating all these things...

Thanks for your reply,

Abigail

Also Jonathan - when I add a link to someone's JG page on Facebook, it just comes up with a really generic box which doesn't really give any details of what the JG page is. I've emailed you a pic. It'd be better if it was more tailored towards the individual JG page...

That's a really good idea. Hopefully it's something JustGiving can integrate in the future.

Hi Abigail,

Thanks for replying.

How we push and pull data from JustGiving is something we're investigating at the moment, so we're trying to find the most useful things that people would like to use: whether for individuals it is things like the latest donations to a page, % of total reached or a countdown to their event. Or for charities, a feed of all their pages, or top fundraisers, that sort of thing.

So with this discovery period underway, it's useful to know what you're after.

As for the Facebook links, they are a bit generic at the moment if you just post the link, but we're planning on adding more Facebook Connect integration that would help. This is something we added last September which means that when you donate to a page, you can log-in to Facebook and share the link to the page (with relevant info from the page) with your FB network. You can see how that works here. We'll be adding Facebook Connect for people with pages too, so you'll be able to add links that way which will have more info that's specific to the page.

Either way, we're obviously aware of the importance of the social web in fundraising now (since > 30% of our traffic comes from social sites) and this year we'll be trying to integrate with them even more than we already have.

This all sounds like it's going in the right direction - I'll look forward to the future developments and I guess in the meantime, I can encourage our fundraisers to use Facebook Connect, etc.

Thanks!
